We partnered with a well-established structural component manufacturer in Tennessee who is seeking an experienced Truss Design Manager / Lead Truss Designer to join their team. This company specializes in high-quality roof and floor truss systems serving residential and light commercial construction markets.
With a strong reputation for craftsmanship, reliability, and customer service, the organization continues to grow and is looking for a seasoned designer who can provide technical leadership and help support an expanding project pipeline.
The Lead Truss Designer / Truss Design Manager will be responsible for producing accurate truss designs while also serving as a technical resource for the design team, sales staff, and production department. This role combines hands-on design work with leadership responsibilities and requires someone who is comfortable managing complex projects from concept through production.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer who enjoys problem-solving, mentoring others, and working closely with operations to ensure efficient and manufacturable truss solutions.
Design roof and floor truss systems using industry-standard design software (MiTek, Alpine, or similar).
Interpret architectural and structural plans to develop accurate truss layouts and designs.
Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and manufacturing requirements.
Serve as a technical leader for the design team, assisting with complex or challenging projects.
Coordinate closely with sales, production, and engineering teams to ensure projects move smoothly through the design and manufacturing process.
Review and optimize designs for structural integrity, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
Assist in mentoring junior designers and helping maintain quality and consistency within the design department.
8+ years of truss design experience preferred.
Experience with MiTek, Alpine, or similar truss design software.
Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
Proven experience designing residential and/or light commercial truss systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, engineering, and production teams.
Previous experience in a lead designer or supervisory role is strongly preferred.
