Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Design Manager for an established engineering and project management organization supporting large-scale federal healthcare infrastructure projects. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in Reno, Nevada.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Design Manager will lead engineering and architectural design efforts for complex capital improvement projects within a federal healthcare environment. This role oversees multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, and project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable design standards and regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who enjoys managing complex projects that have a lasting impact on critical healthcare facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead engineering and architectural design activities for capital improvement projects, ensuring milestones, budgets, and schedules remain on track.
Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, and Designers of Record throughout the design process.
Coordinate with project stakeholders, including client representatives, project teams, and contracting officials, while facilitating project meetings.
Conduct design reviews, evaluate engineering drawings and specifications, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and project standards.
Monitor project progress through reporting, issue resolution, and continuous process improvements to enhance project efficiency.
Support technical decision-making by reviewing contracts, resolving design challenges, and identifying opportunities to improve project outcomes and lifecycle costs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
Experience managing engineering design projects, including design management and project leadership responsibilities.
Experience supporting healthcare, hospital, or similarly regulated facility projects, with knowledge of boiler plant design/build projects preferred.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite, along with excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This full-time, exempt position offers a competitive salary of $120,000-$125,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, and additional employer-sponsored programs.
