Job Title:Design Research Intern

Lifetime Products, located in Clearfield, Utah, designs and manufactures consumer products for major retailers around the world, including Sporting Goods, Lawn & Garden, Water Sports, Play Sets, and Tables & Chairs. www.lifetime.com

For Summer of 2026 we are seeking a talented and passionate Design Research Internto assist our research team. As an integral part of our design process, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth user research to inform and inspire our product development. If you have a keen eye for hard goods design, a curiosity for user behavior, and a knack for translating insights into physical, innovative, solutions we have an amazing opportunity for you. This position is a paid internship that is onsite in Clearfield, Utah. Drug screen and background checks will be completed prior to hire.

SKILLS

  • Conduct thorough research on market trends, user behaviors, and emerging technologies in the consumer goods sector.
  • Employ a user centric approach, actively engaging with customers through interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gather valuable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into the design process, ensuring products meet users needs and expectations.
  • Translate research findings into actionable design recommendations, contributing to the development of innovative and user-friendly products.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a major with a Design User Research emphasis.
  • Proven experience in Design Research, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects in the consumer goods space.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present research findings in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Proficiency in using various research methods, with focus in meeting with customers to understand their needs.
  • Experience using qualitative research methods including observation, interviewing, and contextual inquiry.
  • Familiarity with traditional design tools and software.
