    The Role

    Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

    Must Have

    High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of experience

    Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years experience

    Nice to Have

    We are seeking a highly qualified Shipbuilding Designer with an extensive background in design and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Electrical, Naval, or Marine. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite.

    A thorough understanding of ship design requirements, practices and blueprint reading is required. The selected applicant will be directly involved in Quality Assurance activities and in the development of drawings and related products supporting U.S. Naval ship modifications and overhauls.

    Key responsibilities include: Developing, reviewing, and updating technical drawings and documentation. Supporting ship modernization efforts by ensuring all technical requirements are fully incorporated into delivered products. Following all applicable procedures, standards, and quality requirements. Collaborating with engineering, production, and QA teams to ensure accuracy and compliance. Applicants should possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    3 or more years of Quality Assurance experience is desired.
