The Technology Designer supports the design and documentation of building technology systems, including structured cabling, electronic security, and audio-visual systems. This role helps project teams deliver coordinated, high-quality designs for complex buildings while providing a strong foundation for someone early in their career to build technical skills and grow within the AEC industry.
• Produce drawings of building systems in Autodesk Revit software
• Design structured cabling, electronic security, and audio-visual presentation systems
• Learn to edit specifications for those systems
• Research manufacturers' products and develop product comparisons
• Visit construction sites to perform site observations, initially with supervision, but independently within a short amount of time
• Complete a timesheet every week
• Meet professional development goals
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Skillful use and understanding of AutoCAD and Revit a plus
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills and use of Microsoft Office Teams
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
• High degree of analytical skill and ability
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to complete design assignments with minimal direction after training
• Ability to work in the U.S. (AHA is not sponsoring work authorization)
• B.S in Engineering
• Out-of-state and overnight travel once every three (3) months for projects or conferences
• Some local travel to project sites
• Approximately 10% overtime may be required in a given year.
• There may be weeks with no overtime and other weeks when significant overtime will be necessary to deliver projects.
• Expect to work at the Boston office for at least three (3) days a week
• Expect to work from home/remotely up to two (2) days a week
• During orientation, which may last up to three (3) months, expect to report to the office every day
• The role is 40 hours/week.
• Core hours are 9:00 AM (EST) to 3:00 PM (EST), Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 AM (EST) to 12:00 PM (EST) on Friday, whether you are working at home or at the office.
• Early Fridays are available as long as hours/work are completed by noon.
The expected compensation for this hourly, full-time role ranges from $50,000 to $65,000 annually, depending on experience and education.
