    Desktop Deployment Technician (Traveling) – Upstate New York

    Location: Cooperstown, NY and surrounding Upstate New York region

    Duration: 3+ Month Contract (Potential Contract-to-Hire)

    Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift (8:00 AM Start)

    Travel: Required (Mileage Reimbursed)


    Position Overview

    We are seeking multiple Desktop Deployment Technicians to support a large-scale enterprise workstation replacement initiative across Upstate New York. This project involves replacing approximately 3,400 desktop and laptop computers at healthcare and administrative facilities throughout a 6,000-square-mile service area.

    This is an excellent opportunity for IT professionals who enjoy hands-on work, traveling to multiple locations, and supporting large enterprise deployment projects. High-performing consultants may have the opportunity to transition into permanent positions upon successful completion of the project.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Unbox, inventory, and prepare new desktop and laptop equipment for deployment.
    • Label, package, and stage equipment for transportation to remote office locations.
    • Travel to various facilities throughout the region to replace existing workstations.
    • Disconnect legacy equipment and install new desktops, laptops, monitors, docking stations, and peripherals.
    • Perform basic workstation setup, connectivity verification, and functional testing.
    • Coordinate with Desktop Engineering teams to ensure devices are deployment-ready.
    • Transport replaced equipment back to designated staging areas for inventory and disposition.
    • Maintain accurate asset tracking and deployment documentation.
    • Follow established deployment procedures while meeting project timelines and quality standards.
    • Deliver professional, customer-focused support during onsite deployments.


    Qualifications

    • Experience with desktop deployments, hardware refreshes, or IT field services.
    • Experience installing desktops, laptops, monitors, docking stations, and peripherals.
    • Basic troubleshooting skills for Windows workstations and hardware.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to lift and transport computer equipment.
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
    • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned region, including occasional drives of up to two hours.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous experience supporting large-scale desktop deployment or hardware refresh projects.
    • Experience with asset management and inventory tracking.
    • Familiarity with enterprise IT environments.
    • Healthcare IT experience is a plus but not required.
