Experienced Desktop Engineer Tier 1
Must be eligible for a Public Trust
3+ years of professional experience
Experience configuring, installing, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise desktop and laptop systems.
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop applications.
Familiarity with macOS environments and Apple hardware.
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, network connectivity, printers, peripherals, and other end-user technology.
Ability to install and configure IT hardware and software according to documented procedures and technical standards.
Ability to prepare and maintain technical documentation, installation records, and support documentation.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a technical team.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Ability to learn and effectively use enterprise ticketing and IT service-management platforms such as ServiceNow or similar systems.

DUTIES:
Configure, install, troubleshoot, and support desktop and laptop computers, printers, peripherals, and related end-user hardware.
Assist with the installation and configuration of servers, routers, switches, Wi-Fi equipment, network security devices, access-control systems, and other IT infrastructure as required.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, peripheral, and connectivity issues.
Support Windows and macOS desktop environments.
Develop and maintain installation schedules and coordinate technical activities associated with system deployments.
Prepare installation packages and supporting technical documentation.
Document system configurations, installation activities, configuration changes, troubleshooting efforts, and completed work.
Assist with testing activities and preparation of installation and test reports.
Support equipment deployment, replacement, upgrade, relocation, and refresh activities.
Assist in developing and coordinating training plans and technical guidance for site personnel.
Coordinate post-installation operations and maintenance support.
Provide responsive customer support and escalate complex technical issues when appropriate.
Work collaboratively with IT managers, engineers, technicians, vendors, and customer stakeholders.
Follow established NIH, HHS, Federal, and organizational IT policies, procedures, security requirements, and technical standards.
