Position OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking
Desktop Support Technicians for a short-term IT hardware deployment project supporting a hospital customer in downtown Seattle, WA. This hands-on role will work alongside an onsite project lead to install, configure, organize, and stage workstation equipment throughout the hospital and associated clinical spaces.
The Desktop Support Technician will support the deployment of monitors, monitor arms, docking stations, keyboards, mice, cables, and other computer peripherals. Responsibilities will also include receiving and unboxing equipment, staging hardware, cable management, basic troubleshooting, and transporting equipment throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate has previous experience with
desktop support, desktop deployments, workstation installations, hardware refresh projects, IT equipment moves, or technical support and is comfortable working in an active healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support workstation and desktop hardware deployment throughout the hospital and clinical facilities.
Install, connect, and organize monitors, monitor arms, docking stations, keyboards, mice, and other workstation peripherals.
Connect power, data, display, USB, and other workstation cables correctly.
Perform clean and organized cable management according to customer standards.
Receive, unbox, inventory, stage, and prepare IT equipment for deployment.
Safely transport computer equipment and peripherals between various areas of the facility.
Assemble and organize workstations according to established installation instructions and standardized configurations.
Verify workstation hardware setup and connectivity before completing each installation.
Perform basic desktop support and hardware troubleshooting to resolve straightforward installation or connection issues.
Identify and report damaged equipment, missing components, hardware issues, or installation concerns to the onsite project lead.
Maintain clean and organized deployment, staging, and work areas.
Follow all hospital safety, security, infection-control, and onsite project requirements.
Work efficiently with the deployment team to complete installations according to the project schedule.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience with desktop support, desktop deployments, workstation installations, IT hardware, hardware refresh projects, office moves, or a similar technical environment.
Experience installing and connecting monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, cables, and computer peripherals.
Basic understanding of workstation hardware, cables, ports, power connections, and peripheral connectivity.
Ability to install monitor arms and complete professional cable management.
Basic desktop support, hardware troubleshooting, and workstation setup verification skills.
Ability to follow detailed installation instructions, standardized configurations, and customer requirements.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work efficiently as part of an onsite deployment team.
Dependable attendance and availability for the full 45 week project.
Reliable transportation to the downtown Seattle worksite.
Ability to safely lift, carry, stage, and move IT equipment throughout the facility.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform hands-on installation work throughout the workday.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience supporting large-scale desktop or workstation deployment projects.
Experience with IT hardware refresh, relocation, or office-move projects.
Previous experience working in a hospital, clinic, healthcare facility, or other regulated environment.
Desktop support or IT troubleshooting experience.
Hospital Onboarding RequirementsBecause this position will be performed in a
hospital and clinical environment, selected candidates must successfully complete all required onboarding and compliance requirements before beginning the assignment. Requirements include:
Background check
Drug screening
Tuberculosis (TB) testing
MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccination or required documentation
Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccination or required documentation
Pertussis vaccination
Influenza vaccination
Any additional health, vaccination, or facility-specific requirements required for hospital access
