GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Implements innovative programs and engagement strategies to enhance the Destin-Fort Walton Beach experience for residents and visitors alike. Plays a key role in launching and managing new pilot programs designed to connect visitors with local businesses and create authentic, water-based experiences.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

  • Cultivates productive working relationships with community stakeholders including local businesses, attractions, and government partners to advance support of Destin-Fort Walton Beach programs and priorities.
  • Serves as primary liaison for the pilot programs; collaborates directly with charter captains, tour operators and other tourism partners to ensure effective participation and execution of pilot programs.
  • Oversees development of program materials, website content, video production and advertising.
  • Coordinates the rollout, testing, and promotion of new mobile apps and websites, working with developers, marketing staff and program participants to optimize usability and engagement.
  • Assists in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of local business participants and contracted staff.
  • Provides oversight for operational workflows, inventory, and asset management of pilot programs to ensure program efficiency.
  • Collects and analyzes feedback and performance metrics to assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinates with Marketing and Coastal Resources teams to identify and create relevant content which promotes program activities and sustainability goals.
  • Represents Destin-Fort Walton Beach at conferences, community meetings, trade shows, and stakeholder events; delivers presentations as needed.
  • Assists with training and implementation of Little Adventures Classes or other programs; may include long days in outdoor conditions and may require wading in water up to waist deep.
  • Performs administrative duties, including filling purchasing orders, tracking expenses, reconciling payments, and maintaining records.
  • Supports program operations outside of normal business hours, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required by program activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or related field, supplemented by two (2) years of marketing, education and outreach, web management, or tourism development experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience with mobile apps and website management is preferred. Experience in tourism, destination marketing or outdoor recreation/marine industry is preferred. Public speaking experience is preferred. Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to operate office equipment, to include computer, copy/fax machines, and any related peripherals. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires full range of body motion, to include bending at the waist, using lower extremities and using back muscles. This position requires the ability to work for sustained periods of exposure to outside atmospheric conditions, as well as prolonged periods of sitting and standing. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to read and interpret a variety of moderately complex technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, professional journals. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical and/or professional languages used within the parameters of the job and with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagrammatic form; to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.

Numerical Aptitude: Must be able to add and subtract; may require the ability to multiply and divide.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be able to perform under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads or public contact. Requires the ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy when in frequent contact with various professionals, county staff, and the general public.
