Advanced math skills
Knowledge of industry standards- AISC manual, Code of Std Practice, Spec, AWS symbols & proper application of all of the aforementioned.
Knowledge of construction means and methods & procedures for shop and field applications.
Able to prepare shop drawings, final stage before fabrication

Prepare shop drawings (Definition of shop drawing: drawing of each part required of the structural steel. This drawing will be used by the steel fabricator and includes, but is not limited to, member size, length, notches, position & holes diameter, welds and bolts).
Read Structural & Architectural design drawings; use this information to create 3D model in SDS2. Draw erection plans, elevations & sections for field use.
Draw details and sub-materials for fabrication. Coordinate job requirements with project managers and subcontractors.
