Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Dev/Research Engineer 2. This role will be performed onsite in Chillicothe, IL. This is a long-term opportunity that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $38/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a Dev/Research Engineer to support the development and validation of mechanical systems, with a focus on fuel pump design and testing. This role involves working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support product development, validation planning, and testing activities as part of a new product introduction (NPI) program. This position combines design, analysis, and hands-on validation work, offering exposure to both office-based engineering and lab/test environments.
Key Responsibilities- Support design, development, and validation of mechanical components and systems
- Lead and assist with validation planning, test execution, and result analysis
- Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
- Develop and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Perform hands-on work including test setup, assembly, teardown, and inspection
- Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities and APQP processes
- Document results and communicate findings to stakeholders
Required Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred or related field)
- 25 years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience with 3D modeling and print detailing (Creo preferred)
- Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings
- Hands-on experience with mechanical components or systems
- Experience with product development and validation processes
- Knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, DVP&R, or APQP
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with engine or fuel system development
- Familiarity with product validation and testing
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Exposure to FEA or hydraulic analysis
- Experience with supplier coordination and engineering release processes
Work Environment- Primarily office-based with increasing involvement in lab/test environments
- Hands-on work with validation hardware including testing, inspection, and coordination
- Frequent collaboration with engineering teams and stakeholders
