Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Dev/Research Engineer 3 (Data Acquisition Engineer). The work will be done onsite in Lafayette, Indiana. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $50/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
The Dev/Research Engineer 3 (Data Acquisition Engineer) will support field data acquisition hardware kit builds and configurations in a testing lab environment. This role focuses on assembling, troubleshooting, validating, and refurbishing data acquisition systems used to support product development and lifecycle testing initiatives. The engineer will also manage inventory, configure data loggers, and coordinate global shipment of hardware kits for field data collection. This position offers hands-on involvement with electrical systems, communication protocols, and technical lab operations supporting advanced engineering programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Assemble, troubleshoot, clean, and refurbish field data acquisition hardware kits
• Configure and validate data logger systems to ensure performance meets required specifications
• Interpret electrical schematics and complete wiring harness and kit builds
• Maintain inventory records and documentation for new and returned hardware kits
• Coordinate shipment and return processing of hardware units for global data collection activities
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
• Minimum 5 years of engineering or related technical experience required
• Hands-on electrical and tool experience including wiring, soldering, multimeter usage, and drills
• Experience with CAN J1939, CAN CCP, and serial bus communication systems
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and build wiring harnesses
• Strong communication, organization, task prioritization, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in testing lab or hardware validation environments
• Prior experience supporting data acquisition systems or field testing operations
• Internship experience in electrical-focused engineering roles may be considered toward experience requirements
• Experience supporting heavy equipment, power systems, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred
