Hansen Talent Group is hiring a COBOL Developer to support a mainframe-based enterprise environment.

This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting complex applications within a healthcare claims processing environment. You’ll work on EDI transactions, collaborate with business and technical teams, and ensure reliable data processing across critical systems.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze, design, develop, and implement complex COBOL-based applications
  • Support healthcare EDI processing, including claims and eligibility transactions
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Design, code, test, and debug programs in a mainframe environment
  • Perform system enhancements, conversions, and post-implementation support
  • Create and execute test plans, validate results, and maintain documentation
  • Evaluate system impacts and dependencies across applications
  • Provide guidance and technical support to junior developers
  • Support production systems, including troubleshooting and on-call responsibilities

What You’ll Need

  • Strong COBOL development experience (mainframe environment)
  • Experience with healthcare claims and EDI processing (X12 transactions)
  • 6+ years of application development, systems testing, or related experience
  • Experience with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, and JCL
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, system design, and integration methodologies
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot issues effectively
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
