Job Responsibilities

• Oversee coding, testing, and debugging of programs.
• Develop flowcharts, diagrams, and user instructions.
• Lead research and analysis for project proposals and system modifications.
• Evaluate database schemas and write SQL code.
• Analyze system logs and troubleshoot application issues.
• Coordinate programming projects and develop standards for programming staff.
• Implement changes to improve application and system performance.
• Create and maintain backup processes for business continuity.
• Coordinate and track the work of team members.

Requirements

• 15 years of JAVA experience.
• 10 years of SQL database experience.
• 8 years of experience in supporting large applications in a team environment.
• 5 years of experience with Linux.

Preferences

• 8 years of experience with Atlassian tool suite, especially JIRA.
• 8 years of experience with Agile methodology.
• 2 years of experience with State of Texas applications, particularly Texas Department of Public Safety.
• Experience transitioning applications from legacy mainframe to Java/SQL environment.

Services are expected to start on 09/01/2026 and conclude by 08/31/2027. The position requires a commitment of 2,080 hours over the year.
