Job Title: Senior GenTax Developer (STARS) — C# / PostgreSQL.
Location: Remote (U.S.) — supporting a state tax program based in Augusta, ME.
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through ZipStaff — No C2C or 1099).
About the Opportunity:
ZipStaff is seeking a Senior GenTax Developer to support STARS, the tax-processing platform for a state government tax administration organization.
You will analyze, design, code, test, and document enhancements and production fixes on FAST Enterprises GenTax using C#, PostgreSQL, and Visual Studio. Work is largely independent, coordinated with other developers, and essential to accurate, efficient tax processing.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze, design, code, test, and document GenTax enhancements and production fixes to FAST functional and technical standards.
- Implement SQR change requests in FAST GenTax and track changes in the Fast Central Repository (FCR).
- Develop in C#, PostgreSQL, and Visual Studio.
- Coordinate work with other developers; participate in structured code reviews and walkthroughs.
- Execute with little direct supervision.
- Support efficiency and accuracy of state tax processing.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional programming experience.
- Minimum 2 years on a FAST Enterprises system (GenTax, Fast DS-VS, Fast UI-PL, or Fast CSE).
- Hands-on C#, PostgreSQL, and Visual Studio.
- Ability to implement SQR change requests and use FCR to project standards.
- Must not have worked for FAST Enterprises directly in the past 6 months.
- Able to work independently and in structured code reviews.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior GenTax work on a state tax / revenue system.
- Experience with production support and tax-processing workflows.
- Ability to work Maine business hours.
