The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI) is the sole nonprofit organization created by President Reagan, charged with advancing his legacy and principles xe2x80x93 individual liberty, economic opportunity, freedom and democracy, peace through strength, and national pride.

A globally recognized, nonpartisan organization based in Simi Valley, CA, with a leading policy institute in Washington, DC, the Reagan Foundation delivers impactful public affairs programming, policy convenings, and projects of national and international significance, scholarly initiatives, and distinctive educational programs that shape the perspectives of middle, high school, and college students.

In addition, RRPFI sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the largest and most-visited presidential library. A leading cultural institution, RRPFI houses a remarkable 125,000-square-foot museum featuring unique historical pieces that tell the story of Ronald Reaganxe2x80x99s life, presidency, and enduring impact.

Position Available

The Reagan Foundation is seeking a full-time Development Associate to join the Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in building a career in nonprofit fundraising. The position will report to the Director of Advancement Services and work closely with development team members to assist in raising funds and serving the needs of donors and potential donors. Key responsibilities include donor communications and services, calendaring and scheduling, donor research, and donor data management. The in-person position is located at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in Simi Valley, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Donor Communications and Services: Place outbound calls to respond to donor requests, follow up on solicitations, and reach out to donors before and after events. Serve as a friendly, professional point of contact for donors who contact the Reagan Foundationxe2x80x99s development team. May assist with drafting copy for development projects and with editing documents.xc2xa0

  • Calendaring and Scheduling: Manage calendaring for the Chief Development Officer and assist others with scheduling donor meetings, confirming appointments, coordinating meeting logistics, and arranging travel.

  • Donor Research: In collaboration with the Director of Development Data and Research, support the development team with donor research to help identify prospects and assist with preparing for fundraising travel.

  • Donor Data Management: The department is undergoing efforts to make the donor database the single source of truth for the department, and it will be important for the Development Associate to become well-versed in how to use the database and assist with recording information that will drive fundraising and strategic decision-making.xc2xa0

  • Foundation-wide Events: Help prepare for and staff the Reagan National Defense Forum (first weekend of December) and Reagan National Economic Forum (end of May), along with tasks for other evening or weekend programming through the Center for Public Affairs.

  • Miscellaneous: Perform other related duties as assigned, potentially to include administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • Admiration for, and alignment with, President Reagan and his timeless principles, including individual liberty, economic opportunity, freedom and democracy, peace through strength, and national pride. This is a must.

  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree required.

  • xe2x80x9cPeople personxe2x80x9d with strong customer service skills who enjoys engaging with people by phone, by email, and in person.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Attention to detail with an ability to work with a high level of accuracy.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Humble and teachable with a genuine interest in nonprofit fundraising and a desire to build a career in development.xc2xa0

  • Proficiency with standard office programs and procedures, including word processing, spreadsheets, email programs, and mail merge.

  • Experience with a CRM or customer database is a plus.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with uncompromising personal integrity.

  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.

Salary/Benefits

This is a non-exempt, full-time position with some evening and weekend work. Salary is $25 to $30 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits include PTO, an Employee Assistance Program, a discount in the Museum Store and Museum Cafxc3xa9, and the opportunity to participate in a 403(b) retirement program.
