The Development Coordinator is a dynamic, externally facing role responsible for advancing Norwescap's fundraising, volunteer engagement, and community partnership efforts. This position blends relationship-building, marketing support, and administrative coordination to strengthen donor pipelines and deepen community involvement.
This role manages a portfolio of corporate and community donors, with a focus on securing annual gifts up to $4,999, while also cultivating volunteer groups as part of a long-term engagement strategy. The Coordinator works cross-functionally to align volunteer activities with programmatic needs and supports marketing initiatives that elevate Norwescap's visibility and impact.
Essential Functions:
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Manage and grow a defined portfolio of corporate and community donors and prospects
- Secure annual gifts ranging from $1 - $4,999 through strategic outreach and relationship management
- Identify, cultivate, and steward donors through personalized engagement strategies
- Support donor communications, appeals, and campaigns in collaboration with the Development team
- Track donor activity, gifts, and engagement in the donor database (Virtuous)
Volunteer Engagement & Program Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, and manage individual and group volunteers
- Develop and oversee volunteer opportunities in coordination with program staff
- Ensure meaningful, mission-aligned volunteer experiences that encourage long-term engagement
- Build pathways for volunteers to transition into donors, advocates, and ambassadors
- Maintain volunteer records and track participation and impact
Community Partnerships & Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and civic groups
- Represent Norwescap at community events and networking opportunities
- Develop partnership opportunities that integrate volunteerism, sponsorship, and fundraising
- Collaborate with internal teams to align partnerships with organizational priorities
Marketing & Communications Support
- Create flyers, basic marketing materials, and event collateral using Canva or similar tools
- Assist with social media content creation and scheduling
- Support email marketing campaigns (e.g., Mailchimp)
- Contribute to storytelling efforts that highlight impact, volunteers, and donors
Administrative & Operational Support
- Support donation processing, acknowledgments, and database management
- Generate reports for donor tracking and campaign performance
- Assist with event planning, logistics, and execution
- Maintain contact lists and communication records
- Provide general administrative support to the Development and Marketing functions
Education and Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 2 years of nonprofit fundraising experience required
- 2–3 years of marketing or communications experience preferred
- Experience working with volunteers or community engagement initiatives strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license (NJ or PA preferred)
- Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events
- Comfortable with a role that includes approximately 50% administrative responsibilities

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams)
