Description

The Development Engineer will play a key role in designing and developing complex cardiac catheter systems while supporting the transition of products from research and development into commercial manufacturing. This hands-on position involves product design, prototyping, testing, process development, statistical analysis, technical documentation, and vendor collaboration to support successful product realization.

  • Design and develop catheter components, sub-assemblies, and complete system architectures.
  • Create technical documentation including drawings, protocols, reports, and procedures.
  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes including bonding, extrusion, reflow, and assembly techniques.
  • Execute design verification activities, testing programmes, and statistical data analysis.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to support product development and commercialization.

Profile

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated medical device engineer with a strong background in catheter development and manufacturing processes. They will have a proven track record of bringing products from concept through commercial launch while working effectively within regulated quality systems and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of medical device product development experience, including 3+ years focused on catheter development.
  • Expertise in catheter manufacturing processes such as UV bonding, solvent bonding, extrusion, reflow, tipping, swaging, and injection moulding.
  • Experience with catheter materials including Pebax, PTFE, FEP, PEEK, Nitinol, stainless steel, and similar materials.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, design verification, DOE methodologies, and statistical analysis tools.
