Open Until Filled Resume and Cover Letter Required First round of applicants will review May 4, 2026 The Development Review Engineer Oversees the engineering and permitting review of land development applications, including land divisions, site plans and construction permits for compliance with state laws and other applicable policies and regulations, including but not limited to: County codes and Engineering Design Standards. Coordinates with other review staff such as Planning, PW Traffic Division, and other permitting agencies outside of the County. Provides expert testimony at forums such as County Hearing Examiner, and public meetings. The job is part of a division whose work encompasses the design of highway construction projects, the review for engineering soundness of such designs made by outside consultants, the review of construction in accordance with approved design, and the inspection and testing of materials put in place by contractors for their quality and appropriateness. The position also has a role in office engineering aspects of construction projects through such actions as assisting in review of plats, permits, verification of material quantity calculations. High School Diploma or GED Two years of experience as a Permit Technician Two years of customer service experience Two years customer service in an administrative/office support position within a public environment Federal, state, and local laws, rules, codes, and regulations related to the fields of land development and stormwater management. Valid Driver's License: With proof of automobile insurance Background Check: Must have an acceptable background record Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving record Preferred : Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate or working towards obtaining certification Prior experience in construction or project management Experience in the public sector and with intergovernmental or inter-agency agreements is preferred.
Working Conditions: The work of the position is carried out in an office environment sitting at a desk or workstation with desktop computer and standing or sitting at a public service counter. Occasional lifting of office paper supplies may be performed but is voluntary and incidental to the position's purpose. Travel is not required as a normal part of the job.
