Overview
The Developmental Production Leadership Program is designed to prepare participants for a future Shift Supervisor role within Nucor's steelmaking operations. Through a series of hands-on rotations across multiple departments and divisions, participants will build the operational knowledge, leadership capabilities, and business acumen needed to successfully lead a production team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
As a Shift Supervisor, you will provide leadership to a team of frontline teammates, oversee the production process to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations, remove obstacles that impact team performance, and build an engaged, high-performing team. You will coach and develop teammates, reinforce Nucor's culture and values, and lead by example through a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and servant leadership.
Throughout the program, participants will work closely with a department manager, be paired with a mentor, receive coaching from experienced leaders, and learn alongside teammates across the business. Participants will gain exposure to every facet of the steelmaking process, developing the skills and perspective necessary to lead successfully.
The length of the program varies based on individual experience, progress, business needs, and available resources. Each participant will have an established home division and complete a brief rotation at another Nucor division. Relocation upon successful completion of the program will be required.
