The DevOps Engineer II is a mid-level engineering position responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting automation, deployment, monitoring, and operational reliability across cloud and hosted application environments. This role partners closely with software engineering, site reliability, security, and infrastructure teams to improve continuous integration and continuous delivery processes, infrastructure automation, platform operations, and service resilience.
The successful candidate will demonstrate solid hands-on experience with DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, systems administration, automation, and troubleshooting, along with the ability to work independently on moderately complex technical efforts. This position is intended for engineers who have moved beyond foundational support responsibilities and are expected to drive platform reliability and efficiency by applying AI across CI/CD, observability, incident response, and infrastructure operations—optimizing builds and pipelines; detecting and diagnosing failures faster; using predictive insights to spot anomalies and bottlenecks; and recommending cost and resource utilization improvements.
Own and support software delivery activities, including build, deployment, release, and environment management processes across multiple applications and infrastructure environments.
Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines used to build, test, secure, and deploy applications with greater efficiency and consistency.
Provision, configure, and maintain infrastructure in cloud and hosted environments using automation and infrastructure as code practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve application, deployment, infrastructure, and environment issues with limited supervision, including participation in incident response and root cause analysis.
Monitor system health, review logs and telemetry, and implement improvements in reliability, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Contribute to standardization of engineering practices, reusable automation, deployment patterns, and operational runbooks.
Collaborate across engineering, support, operations, and security teams to resolve issues, support releases, and improve platform and delivery processes.
Apply established security, compliance, and operational standards in all engineering activities and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and reduce risk.
Participate in operational support and on-call activities, and take ownership of assigned issues through resolution and follow-through.
Provide guidance to more junior engineers through knowledge sharing, documentation, and day-to-day technical collaboration.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, or a related engineering discipline.
Demonstrated working knowledge of DevOps concepts, including CI/CD, automation, infrastructure as code, cloud operations, release management, and system reliability.
Experience with Linux and/or Windows administration, scripting, source control, cloud platforms, and troubleshooting in production or pre-production environments.
Practical experience with containers, infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging, and operational support processes.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver reliable results in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams while clearly communicating technical issues, risks, and recommendations.
Demonstrated accountability, sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Ability to use approved AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve productivity, support troubleshooting, enhance documentation, and assist engineering workflows.
Engineers are expected to incorporate AI-enabled tools into day-to-day engineering practices as a standard first approach to improve efficiency, troubleshooting, documentation, and workflow speed and structure effective prompts and task flows while ensuring all outputs are reviewed and aligned with security, compliance, and quality expectations.
Career Growth and Work Environment
This is a mid-level individual contributor position intended for engineers who can perform assigned responsibilities with increasing independence and technical judgment. The DevOps Engineer II is expected to handle routine and moderately complex technical work with limited supervision, contribute to operational and engineering improvements, and continue building depth in platform engineering, cloud operations, automation, and reliability practices.
This is a full-time position and may include participation in a rotational on-call support model. The role may support systems and environments critical to business operations and therefore requires strong adherence to established operational, security, and compliance standards, along with a willingness to take ownership of issues, contribute to documentation and process maturity, and support the success of the broader engineering organization.
