DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will ensure performance, security, reliability, and cost efficiency through automation, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps best practices. You will work closely with development teams to deploy and operate cloud-based applications across multiple environments, and use AI-assisted tools to improve automation, troubleshooting, and delivery speed without compromising quality or security.

Responsibilities

· Design AWS architecture - Build scalable, highly available solutions using EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, ELB/ALB, EKS, and other AWS-native services; plan for disaster recovery and resilience.

· Provision and manage infrastructure - Deploy and maintain compute, storage, networking, and database resources via the AWS Console, CLI, and infrastructure-as-code.

· Automate with IaC - Develop and maintain provisioning and deployment workflows using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.

· Secure cloud environments - Apply IAM, encryption (at rest and in transit), network segmentation, logging, and compliance controls aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements.

· Monitor and optimize - Track performance, availability, and cost; use AWS monitoring and alerting tools; proactively troubleshoot and resolve incidents.

· Enable CI/CD - Integrate infrastructure with pipelines for streamlined builds and deployments using GitHub Actions and related practices.

· Support containerized workloads - Manage application deployments with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS); minimize downtime during releases.

· Collaborate with development - Partner with engineering teams to translate application needs into secure, efficient AWS solutions.

· AI-assisted DevOps - Use AI coding and operations assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar) to accelerate scripting, IaC, pipeline configuration, documentation, and incident analysis; critically review all AI-generated infrastructure and automation for security, correctness, and compliance.

· Promote responsible AI use - Help define when and how the team uses AI for infrastructure, automation, and runbooks, including review standards and risk controls.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

· Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience; 5 years experience

· Experience - 5+ years in DevOps, cloud engineering, or platform engineering roles.

· AWS - Strong hands-on experience with core services: compute, storage, networking, databases, and security.

· Infrastructure as code - Production experience with Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.

· Scripting - Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and administration.

· Security - Solid understanding of the AWS shared responsibility model and cloud security best practices.

· Networking - Subnetting, routing, load balancing, firewall rules, and VPN connectivity.

· CI/CD - Working knowledge of continuous integration and deployment principles and tooling.

· AI-assisted development - Practical experience using AI tools for scripting, IaC, pipeline work, or operational troubleshooting; ability to validate and harden AI-generated configurations and code.

· Problem-solving - Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex AWS and CI/CD issues.

· Communication - Clear collaboration with cross-functional development and operations stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

· One or more of the following certifications:

o AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional

o AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty

· Proven experience as DevOps Engineer.

· Hands-on experience managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).

· Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools and practices, including GitHub Actions.
