About the Opportunity

A growing environmental consulting organization is seeking a DevOps Engineer with a background in environmental science, environmental engineering, or scientific computing to support the development of modern data infrastructure, automation, and technical tools used across environmental projects.

This role is ideal for someone with 3-7 years of DevOps, cloud, or software engineering experience who enjoys working at the intersection of technology and environmental problem-solving. You will partner with scientists, engineers, modelers, and technical specialists to build and maintain scalable systems that support large environmental datasets, advanced analytics, and scientific modeling workflows.


Key Responsibilities

DevOps & Technical Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to improve technical workflows, infrastructure, and software delivery processes.
  • Administer and support cloud and DevOps platforms used by scientific and engineering teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and document internal applications, code libraries, automation processes, and technical resources.
  • Improve the reliability, usability, and consistency of shared tools and computational workflows.
  • Design and implement reusable solutions that support environmental data analysis, modeling, visualization, and reporting
  • Build and support automated infrastructure used to process, analyze, and visualize environmental data using tools such as

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of relevant professional experience in DevOps, software engineering, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, or scientific computing.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other scientific computing languages.
  • Experience with common data analysis and visualization libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Tidyverse, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments and containerized workflows.
  • Experience with software development best practices, including:
    • Version control (Git/GitHub)
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • API integrations
    • Data automation workflows
    • Artifact management
    • Collaborative development practices
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
