Diabetes Care & Education SpecialistRocky Mountain Diabetes Center | Idaho Falls & Pocatello, Idaho | Full-TimeRocky Mountain Diabetes Center is seeking a full-time Diabetes Care & Education Specialist to join our multidisciplinary diabetes care team. This is an excellent opportunity for a healthcare professional who enjoys developing ongoing relationships with patients, working closely with diabetes providers, and helping people successfully manage diabetes using education, lifestyle strategies, medications, and the latest diabetes technology.This position is primarily based in Idaho Falls and requires working 1–2 days per week in our Pocatello office.We offer a competitive wage based on education, credentials, and experience, with higher compensation for individuals who have earned the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential. Our Diabetes Care & Education Specialists work closely with endocrinologists and other providers and have the opportunity to work extensively with the latest diabetes technologies, including continuous glucose monitors, insulin pumps, and automated insulin delivery systems.We are a family-oriented organization that values our employees, encourages professional development, and strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients.A DAY IN THE LIFEAs a Diabetes Care & Education Specialist, you will work directly with people with diabetes and their families, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to successfully manage diabetes.Your day may include educating someone who has been newly diagnosed, training a patient on a new insulin pump or CGM, reviewing glucose and insulin-delivery data, teaching a group class, or helping a family manage a child's type 1 diabetes.You will collaborate closely with physicians and other providers and provide education related to medications, nutrition, physical activity, diabetes technology, risk reduction, problem-solving, healthy coping, and behavior change. Education is provided through individual appointments, group classes, telehealth, and telephone support.Our specialists also rotate through diabetes-related telephone support and participate in an on-call rotation, primarily supporting newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes patients and families. Other opportunities may include school and workplace training, community education, clinical research support, mentoring students, and developing patient education materials.Because we maintain an ADA-recognized diabetes education program, the position also includes patient goal setting, follow-up, outcome tracking, and documentation in the electronic medical record.Successful team members are excellent listeners, effective educators, collaborative professionals, and enthusiastic learners who enjoy helping patients use both technology and practical strategies to improve their lives.QUALIFICATIONSRegistered Nurse, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Pharmacist, or other appropriately qualified healthcare professionalCurrent Idaho license or credential when required by disciplineExcellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skillsStrong computer and documentation skillsInterest in diabetes care and technologyWillingness to participate in the rotating on-call scheduleAbility to work 1–2 days per week in PocatelloThe CDCES credential is preferred but not required at hire and may be earned while working at Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center. Previous diabetes care, patient counseling, insulin pump, or CGM experience is a plus.WORK SCHEDULEThis is a full-time, approximately 40-hour-per-week position, with the potential for a four-day, 10-hour schedule.
