Job Summary

The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer I (DCS I) is competent in providing high quality cardiac ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels, assessment of myocardial function, recording of hemodynamic measurements, and visualization of blood flow using 2D, M-mode, color-flow and spectral Doppler. The DCS I performs Exercise Stress Echo, Dobutamine Stress Echo, and assists with Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEEs). The DCS establishes peripheral intravenous access and administers Ultrasound Enhancing Agents according to established protocol and standing medical order (SMO). The DCS I retrieves, communicates, and presents information in a written, oral or visual fashion.

Minimum Qualifications

School Education: Graduation from a CAHEP accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer program.

Licenses & Certifications:

Other certificates as required by unit/service.

Basic Life Support From an American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross approved program.

Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer through ARDMS or CCI within 6 months from date of hire, if not held at time of appointment

Work Experience

Two (2) years of hospital or clinical experience preferred.

Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)
