    Hartford HealthCare has a unique opportunity for a Diagnostic Medical Physicist (DMP) to join our growing Medical Physics and the Radiation Safety team. The DMP will support the HHC imaging medical physics program. In addition, the DMP will provide education and training and will support the imaging quality improvement projects.

    Summary

    • Provide physics services as required by the ACR accreditation, the Joint Commission and state regulations for Mammography, US equipment, X-ray imaging physics services, including CR, DR, fluoroscopic/angiographic, and CT, CBCT/OBI imagers, CT and R/F simulators, Nuclear Medicine PET, SPECT, planar, and cardiac modalities.
    • Provide radiation protection technical resources for each HHC campus radiation protection program (to include low dose protocols in Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, CT, Interventional Fluoroscopy and general Fluoroscopy), and MR Safety
    • Promote radiation safety program compliance with applicable HHC policies and procedures, the HHC ALARA program, and all local, state, and federal regulations
    • Represent HHC at various local, state and federal meetings, committees, and task groups to promote existing and new radiation safety programs and/or policies.
    • Calculate radiation shielding designs, fetal and skin dose consults.
    • Providing radiation safety and dosimetry support for Y-90 and radioiodine therapies.
    • Providing physics education to the radiology residents and radiation safety training to clinical staff.

    Qualifications

    • Masters in Health Physics or Medical Physics
    • Bachelor''s in Radiation Science only acceptable with 10 years as medical RSO or related medical regulatory radiation program oversight experience.
    • Five (5) years professional experience health physics, medical health physics or medical physics in a medical safety program
    • One of the following Board Certifications:
    • ABHP (American Board of Health Physics)
    • ABNMS (American Board of science in Nuclear Medicine)
    • ABMP (American Board of Medical Physicist)
    • ABR (American Board of Radiology)
