Position Purpose:
Under the direction of a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician, Sonographer performs sonographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail; performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative, using ultrasound for diagnosis.
Required Qualifications:
High school graduation of equivalent.
Satisfactory completion of an ultrasound program or similar training to meet qualifications for registration.
Required to have RDMS credentials and updated BLS.
What the Diagnostic perinatology Sonographer will do:
Performs sonographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail; performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative, using ultrasound for diagnosis.
Complete exams of abdominal, pelvic, transvaginal
Targeted fetal anatomy surveys. Highly detailed head-to-toe evaluation of fetal brain, spine, cardiac and limbs to evaluate for congenital anomalies, genetic markers and structural birth defects.
Doppler imaging to measure blood velocities in maternal and fetal vessels to assess placental function and oxygenation. Serial fetal growth and cervical assessment.
