Job Description

Loyal Source Government Services is looking for 2 full-time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (X-Ray) at the VA Portland Health Care System.

Job Summary: The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (X-Ray) will have provide non-personal healthcare support services onsite at the VA Portland Health Care System. Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists are required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to all individuals

Pay Rate: $50.39 / hr + $5.42 H&W Fringe

Duties:

• Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
• Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
• Setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area.
• Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
• Adjusts/sets radiographic controls.
• Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians.
• Check X-rays for clarity of image, retaking when needed.
• Receives patients by checking name, social security number or date of birth and explaining the procedures to be performed per the request.
• Selects and sets technical factors using established criteria.
• Makes exposures necessary for the required procedures. Takes films/images to daylight processor for processing.
• Edits film/images for quality of images, positioning and appropriate ID.
• Enters required data into the Decentralized Hospital Computer System (DHCP).
• Maintains records of patients treated, examinations performed, views, images taken, and settings used.
• Performs routine examinations of chest, joints, extremities, cholangiography, barium enemas, upper Gl's (Gastrointestinal), IVP's (Intravenous pyelogram), and other complex examinations, under the technical or professional direction of a Radiologist when required during tour assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 year of experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of a Radiologist or other medical officer.
• Must work within a hospital lab setting as an X-Ray technologists in the last 6 months
• Must have BLS

• Work schedules could be 8-hour, 9-hour, or 10-hour shifts, not including lunch, and as established by the supervisor.

o Nine (9) hour shifts are typically a rotating four (4) days and five (5) days per week with 30 minutes for lunch/dinner.

o Ten (10) hour shifts are typically a four (4) day week with 30 minutes for lunch/dinner.

• Rotating weekends and Holiday shifts may be required, and hours will vary.
• Overtime duty for this position may be required on occasion and in emergent situations.
