Job Title: Diagnostic Technician
Location: Hyannis, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 36 Hours Weekly – 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM
Shift Requirements: Every Other Weekend and Holiday Coverage Required
Compensation:
- Traveler Pay: $44–$47/hr ($1,518–$1,621/week) based on experience
- Local Pay: $34–$37/hr ($1,172–$1,276/week) based on experience
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Technician to provide quality patient care through specimen collection and non-invasive cardiac testing within a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in phlebotomy, EKG testing, patient interaction, and cardiac diagnostics while maintaining excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Collect blood samples and other patient specimens following established procedures
- Transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely and accurate manner
- Positively identify patients prior to specimen collection to ensure patient safety
- Educate patients on proper specimen collection procedures
- Perform non-invasive cardiology testing including:
- EKGs
- Holter Monitor placement
- Stress Testing
- Ensure all required laboratory and cardiac testing documentation is completed accurately
- Research unusual test requests using available departmental resources and specimen collection manuals
- Document patient and testing information within hospital information systems and department logs
- Complete cardiac test ordering and billing information as required
- Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and confidentiality standards
- Work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Certifications:
- Current Phlebotomy Certification (PBT) required
- Current EKG Certification required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
Experience & Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare setting
- Strong patient interaction and communication skills
- Acute care hospital experience preferred
