Summary:
Under the direction of a radiologist and/or surgeon, performs high quality diagnostic imaging examinations using ingenuity, initiative and independent judgment in a safe and timely manner. This clinical/technical position will support multiple imaging systems, including fluoroscopy, diagnostic radiology and the operating room. Must follow physicians' orders precisely, maintaining a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their co-workers from unnecessary exposure.
Responsibilities:
Perform all procedures following the appropriate imaging protocols. All technical factors should be appropriate for the age of the patient with consideration of the tools available for shielding and dose reduction.
Compiles and reviews images, provides applicable comparison studies, and prepares documentation for interpretation.
Demonstrates working knowledge of Positioning (General and Fluoroscopic) as well as Knowledge of Anatomy (including physiology, basic pathology, and related medical terminology).
Performs quality control testing as required.
Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance on equipment; stock and replenish supplies as required.
Proficient in departmental and hospital information technologies such as PACS, EPIC and job specific related areas.
Readily assists to meet the challenges of staff coverage within the department.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with other staff and caregivers. Supports unit management decisions and Departmental and Organizational initiatives. Accepts and supports change efforts.
Assists in training and/or instruction of student technologist, new employees and ancillary personnel.
Demonstrates working knowledge of Film Criteria for image Evaluation (Demonstration of Anatomical Structures, Identification Marker and Noise).
Effectively identifies problems and potential issues, collecting appropriate information for problem identification. Offers suggestions for more efficient workflow or work production.
Participates in on-call coverage for the department, maintaining a 1-hour response time.
Holiday coverage based on departmental needs.
