PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist Diagnosticians and the Special Education Department in the implementation of special education evaluation procedures by supporting all areas of the evaluation process including but not limited to copying, filing, updating records, distributing required paperwork including notifications to parents and school personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum > 40 WPM typing
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong communication both verbal and written, public relations, organizational and
interpersonal skills
Use software to develop spreadsheets and databases
Maintain accurate and auditable records
Perform a variety of tasks often changing assignment on short notice
Work well with students, parents, community members and campus staff
Excellent reading and grammatical skills
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Suite
Attention to fine details
Ability to meet deadlines
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Regular attendance is an essential function.
Minimum Experience:
Two years of successful experience as a clerk/typist or prior experience in the special
education field
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Collect and organize relevant referral data from student's cumulative folder, classroom teacher(s), principal, appropriate support staff, parents and outside resources as directed by the Diagnostician.
- Process "Notice of ARD" forms by completing appropriate paperwork, mailing ARD reminders to parent(s), as well as through phone communication. Maintain documentation of contact efforts.
- Keep all student folders up to date.
- Copy, file and distribute ARD related paperwork as assigned.
- Create letters, memos, forms, and other documents.
- Assist in the collection of re-evaluation information by reviewing all enrollment information including but not limited to: home language survey, student course schedule, parent/guardian contact information and health screening information.
- Distribute required forms for completion to the appropriate personnel involved with the student's education.
- Keep accurate and up to date records by scanning, archiving and filing IEP documents and all information related to each student.
- Maintain lists and labels.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws and regulations, and local board policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
