Kindred Hospital Greensboro is a 101-bed long-term acute care hospital treating chronically, critically ill patients who require an extended stay in a hospital setting with individualized care plans. We offer a 6-bed ICU and seven negative pressure rooms. We are accessible via I-85 expressway, nestled between Clinton Heights and Lincoln Heights Neighborhoods for your convenience.
Job Summary
The Dialysis Supervisor leads a team by working with them to provide professional nursing care and coordination of nursing care and services to dialysis patients in a Long-Term Acute Care facility. This position acts as team leader and provides acute education to teammates in accordance with established policies and procedures. At all times, the acute staff and the patient's physician retain ultimate authority over and responsibility for each patient's care and treatment.
Essential Functions
Ninety-five percent of this position's time is spent providing nursing care
Approximately five percent of time is spent on administrative duties such as daily scheduling. Lead a team of three to six dialysis care givers, at one or more LTAC facilities
Ensure appropriate documentation of all delivered care
Provide direct patient care and on call responsibilities as determined to maintain appropriate staffing for census
Regularly communicate with Dialysis Program Manager/ Chief Clinical Officer throughout day to plan, confirm, coordinate, and organize assignments
Communicate estimated time of patient treatment within LTAC and confirm assigned patient's consent for treatment, treatment orders, presence and patency of vascular access, overall patient condition, and patient availability for treatment in advance. As required, communicate estimated time of arrival with assigned patient's nephrologist and confirm Physician Orders prior to patient treatment
Communicate changes in patient treatment plan and any other pertinent clinical information with appropriate LTAC Registered Nurse prior to, during, and after patient care to ensure continuity of patient care
Communicate vascular access complications to patient's nephrologist, Registered Nurse, and LTAC Nurse Manager so appropriate corrective actions can be taken prior to next scheduled treatment
Document notifications, communicate changes in patient treatment plans and any other pertinent clinical information, if needed, to appropriate Outpatient Facility Administrator when patient is to be discharged
Notify Bio-Med Technician of any equipment malfunctions
Comply with Acute Facility policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and quality
Inform Dialysis Program Manager and/or Chief Clinical Officer of all incidents, conditions, problems, counseling regarding teammates, patient care, or facilities
Work overtime as needed. Commit to on-call and rotating shifts as needed
Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
Attend Dialysis orientation and mandatory in-services as required
Participate in Dialysis Program Quality Assurance meetings and in-services as required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
Knowledge of the Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Process
Demonstrated ability to assist with providing quality outcomes and tracking of metrics
Demonstrated ability to provide treatments in a safe, therapeutic and cost-effective manner
Approximate percent of time required to travel, 10%
Must read, write, and speak fluent English
Must have good and regular attendance
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
Nursing Diploma Program or Associate's Degree required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Licenses/Certification
Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
BLS certification from the American Health Association required
Experience
Minimum of one year's current nephrology nursing experience required
Current basic EKG interpretation certification preferred
Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word and Outlook required
Basic familiarity with MS Excel and PowerPoint preferred
Prior experience leading teams preferred
