Dialysis Technician
Job Summary
Provides hemodialysis treatment to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Prepares and operates dialysis equipment, initiates and monitors treatment, and observes patients for complications throughout the session. Maintains a safe, clean treatment environment and accurate treatment records.
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent: Required
• Prior hemodialysis experience: Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
• Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) or equivalent state certification: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
Key Responsibilities
• Set up, prime and operate dialysis machines and prepare the treatment area for each patient.
• Obtain pre-treatment vital signs and weights and initiate dialysis treatment as directed.
• Monitor patients and machine parameters throughout treatment and report complications to the nurse.
• Discontinue treatment, obtain post-treatment measurements and provide access site care.
• Document treatment data accurately in the patient record.
• Maintain equipment, perform disinfection and follow infection control and safety protocols.
