Job Title: Die Cutter Operator
Job Description
The Die Cutter Operator sets up, operates, and monitors die cutting machinery to convert roll-fed materials into precise finished products. This role involves machine setup, safe operation, quality inspection, and accurate documentation of production activities in a clean, supportive printing environment.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate die cutting machines to cut materials to specified widths and lengths and re-roll finished product according to work instructions.
Load and unload rolls, cores, and finished materials safely and efficiently to support continuous production.
Adjust knives, spacers, and tension controls to achieve accurate slitting and cutting dimensions.
Inspect slit and die-cut rolls for defects such as uneven edges, telescoping, wrinkles, or contamination and take corrective action as needed.
Label, package, and stage finished products in accordance with documented procedures and customer requirements.
Use computer systems to document and record materials used, time expended, and production data accurately.
Perform basic troubleshooting on die cutting and printing equipment to resolve setup and operational issues.
Follow established safety, quality, and lean manufacturing practices throughout all production activities.
Collaborate with supervisors and teammates to share ideas that improve processes, efficiency, and product quality.
Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed to move raw materials and finished goods.
Essential Skills
2+ years of print operating experience, including flexographic, press, die cutter, or similar printing equipment.
1+ year of experience in machine setup and troubleshooting within a printing or converting environment.
1+ year of computer experience to document and record materials, time, and production data.
Hands-on experience operating die cutting or similar roll-fed converting machinery.
Ability to perform detailed inspection of finished rolls and detect defects such as uneven edges, telescoping, wrinkles, or contamination.
Experience with forklifts or other material handling equipment for loading and unloading rolls and materials.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to adjust knives, spacers, and tension controls accurately.
Capability to follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures consistently.
Basic understanding of printing press operations and related equipment.
Ability to work scheduled hours with flexibility for overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience as a print or die cutter operator is highly preferred.
Experience in roll-fed digital printing is preferred over sheet-fed digital backgrounds due to shorter learning curves for this role.
Experience in a lean manufacturing environment and willingness to contribute process improvement ideas.
Comfort with troubleshooting basic mechanical and operational issues on printing and die cutting equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished products.
Interest in learning and development opportunities, including training and tuition reimbursement programs.

Work Environment
The role is based in a smaller, very clean printing facility that focuses on maintaining a comfortable and well-organized workplace. Employees work with modern die cutting and printing equipment in a roll-fed production environment that emphasizes lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. The schedule typically runs Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with overtime available as early as 4:00 a.m. when needed. Team members use forklifts and other material handling tools to move rolls and finished goods, and they rely on computer systems for production documentation and tracking. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
