Sharples Die is a long-established die shop known for high-quality steel rule and laser die solutions, serving customers across packaging, thermoforming, and specialty industrial applications. We build tooling using modern processes like CNC rule bending, water-jet cutting, and lasers-while still valuing the craftsmanship that separates "good" dies from great ones.

Build, assemble, and repair steel rule cutting dies, stripping fixtures, and related tooling to customer/job specs
Cut, bend, notch, and fit rule using automated and manual equipment (Serviform, EasyBender, or equivalent)
Insert, grind, and secure rule into die boards for proper fit, alignment, and cutting tolerance
Read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and job tickets with strong accuracy
Rubber dies and support rubbering/blanking/stripping processes as needed
Modify and revise existing dies when specs change or rework is required
Inspect and verify quality (dimensions, tolerance, craftsmanship) and correct non-conformances
Perform basic preventative maintenance (cleaning, adjustments, minor repairs) on die-making equipment
Use computer systems for job tracking, data entry, and time recording (ERP systems such as CyFrame/4D or similar)
Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area and collaborate with CAD/production to resolve questions quickly
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong mechanical aptitude and craftsmanship with high attention to detail
Ability to read/interpret prints and CAD-driven job documentation
Comfortable using hand tools and shop equipment for die build and repair
Basic computer skills (job tracking, time entry, production systems)
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with the team
Preferred
1–3 years of experience in steel rule die making, die cutting, or related converting/manufacturing
Familiarity with packaging, printing, converting, carton converting, thermoforming, or specialty tooling environments
Experience with rubbering, blanking, stripping, and tooling revisions
Experience on CNC rule bending / automated benders and related tooling processes
Stand on concrete flooring for extended periods
Frequent bending/stooping; repetitive hand/arm motions using tools
Lift up to 65 lbs (over 65 lbs with assistance)
Manufacturing environment with moderate-to-high noise and airborne dust; PPE required
