You will work across die making, machine operation, and assembly, supporting multiple areas of production. The Die Maker / Utility team member is responsible for constructing, assembling, and repairing steel rule cutting dies while also operating production machinery and assembling components to customer specifications and company standards. This role is critical to production accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.WHAT YOU WILL DODie Making and ToolingFabricate, assemble, and repair steel rule dies, stripping fixtures, and related tooling to customer and internal specificationsCut, bend, and notch steel rule using automated and manual toolsInsert, grind, and secure steel rule into die boards to ensure proper fit, alignment, and cutting toleranceRead and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and job tickets accuratelyRubber dies and operate rubbering/blanking/stripping equipment as neededModify existing dies to meet updated specifications and customer revisionsMachine Operation and AssemblyOperate production machinery and support converting operations across the facilityAssemble components and tooling to customer specificationsInspect materials and finished products for quality and accuracyPerform routine preventative maintenance (cleaning, adjustments, minor repairs)Use computer-based systems for job tracking, data entry, and time recording (ERP/production systems)Quality, Safety, and TeamworkVerify quality through inspection, measurement, and accuracy checksFollow all safety requirements, including PPE and reporting hazards/unsafe conditionsCommunicate with supervisors, CAD, and production to clarify specifications and solve issues quicklySupport training/mentoring of new team members as assignedWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORHigh school diploma or equivalent required1 to 3 years of experience in die making, machine operation, assembly, or related manufacturing preferred (we will train the right person)Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and customer specificationsProficiency with manual/automated rule bending equipment and hand toolsBasic computer skills and comfort using ERP/job tracking systemsStrong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and ability to work independentlyWillingness to cross-train across departmentsExperience in packaging, printing, or converting environments preferredWHY WORK AT CTICompetitive pay: $20 to $30 per hour based on experienceAfternoon/evening schedule: skip the commute traffic, keep your mornings freePart of a growing national manufacturing network (DFC Manufacturing Group, 18+ locations)Hands-on skilled trade work: you will build real tooling that customers depend onCross-training opportunities across die making, machine operation, and assemblyServe industries that touch everyday life: food packaging, consumer goods, medical devicesStable, long-term career: we are investing in equipment, people, and growthSupportive team environment where your work mattersThis is a role for someone who wants to build a career with their hands, learn multiple skills, and be part of a team that takes pride in quality.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSFast-paced manufacturing environment; PPE requiredProlonged standing on concrete; frequent bending/stooping; repetitive hand/arm motions using hand toolsFrequent lifting up to 65 lbs (over 65 lbs with assistance)
