Plastic Injection Molding Die Setter
Location: Sterling Heights, Clinton Township
Pay: $22 $25 per hour, depending on experience
Shifts:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM 11:00 PM
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM 7:00 AM

About the Position
We are looking for an experienced Plastic Injection Molding Die Setter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience setting up injection molding machines, changing molds, troubleshooting basic molding issues, and ensuring machines are running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Set up and change molds/dies on plastic injection molding machines.
- Safely install and remove molds using overhead cranes or other lifting equipment.
- Connect and disconnect water lines, hydraulic lines, electrical connections, and other mold components as required.
- Set machine parameters according to production requirements.
- Set temperatures, pressures, speeds, times, and other processing parameters.
- Start up machines and verify proper operation after mold changes.
- Make adjustments to ensure parts meet quality specifications.
- Troubleshoot basic molding and machine issues.
- Monitor the molding process and make adjustments when necessary.
- Inspect finished parts for defects, including short shots, flash, warping, burns, sink marks, and other quality issues.
- Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Production Supervisors, and Machine Operators.
- Perform mold changes and production changeovers efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Complete production and quality paperwork accurately.
- Assist operators with machine/process questions and provide direction when needed.
- Perform other duties related to injection molding and production as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous hands-on experience as a Plastic Injection Molding Die Setter, Mold Setter, or Injection Molding Technician.
- Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes.
- Experience changing and setting molds on injection molding machines.
- Ability to read and understand basic production instructions and specifications.
- Ability to troubleshoot common molding problems.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and position molds using appropriate equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays when production requires it.
- Must be willing to work any of the three shifts as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hydraulic and/or electric injection molding machines.
- Experience with mold setup, mold maintenance, and process adjustments.
- Experience troubleshooting injection molding defects.
- Experience with robots, conveyors, material dryers, temperature controllers, and auxiliary equipment.
- Experience with scientific molding principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine controls and process-monitoring systems.
- Experience working in automotive plastics or high-volume manufacturing is preferred.
