Die Tooling (Summer of 2027)

AUTOKINITON is a Michigan-based automotive company delivering operational excellence, high-quality execution, and customer service. We offer 100% vertical integration capabilities such as end-to-end engineering, manufacturing, and in-house logistics.

We’re proud of our Tier 1 supplier legacy for manufacturing propulsion-agnostic, structural automotive components, and assemblies around the globe.

Internship placements are based on both candidate preferences and business needs. Although location preferences will be considered, placement at a specific location cannot be guaranteed and is dependent on functional and location availability (Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi).

To help us drive excellence, you’ll get to:

·         Read and interpret engineering prints, drawings, and specifications to understand tooling, fixtures, and die components.

·         Gain hands-on experience with tool room equipment, including lathes, drill presses, milling machines, surface grinders, and other machining equipment.

·         Assist with die maintenance, tooling assembly, fitting, and adjustments to support production and quality requirements.

·         Learn precision measurement and inspection techniques using gauges, measuring tools, Faro equipment, and other quality verification methods.

·         Support toolmakers and die leaders during tooling tryouts, troubleshooting activities, and continuous improvement projects.

·         Develop foundational welding skills through exposure to MIG and TIG welding applications used in tooling and fixture repair.

·         Work with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to understand tooling design, manufacturing processes, and problem-solving techniques.

This internship provides hands-on experience in tool and die operations, machining, tooling maintenance, measurement systems, and manufacturing processes within a fast-paced automotive environment.
