•     Conduct NYS DOT inspections and brake inspections on company vehicles.

•     Adjust brakes, replace lights, mirrors, windshield wipers, and other routine maintenance items as scheduled or needed.

•     Inspect and test hydraulic system components.

•     Lubricate vehicles using lube gun; replace grease fittings as needed.

Repair & Service

•     Plan repair procedures using technical manuals, charts, and field experience.

•     Drain and replace fluids — oil, transmission, differential, coolant — using proper tools and receptacles.

•     Install replacement parts including oil, fuel, and air filters; belts; hoses; caps; bulbs; and lenses.

•     Refill radiators with correct water/antifreeze mixture; check and top off all other fluid levels per manufacturer specifications.

•     Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks or hoists to access underside components.

Shop Operations & Documentation

•     Accurately and promptly complete checklists and related paperwork for all work performed.

•     Maintain shop, tools, and equipment in organized, safe working condition.

•     Communicate needed parts or follow-up repairs to the Shop Foreman.

•     Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

•     Must own a complete set of hand tools.

•     Ability to communicate clearly and fluently in English with drivers, mechanics, parts personnel, vendors, and co-workers.

•     Ability to read, interpret, and follow written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.

•     Working knowledge of fractions, percentages, decimals, ratios, and proportions as applied to mechanical work.

•     Working knowledge of hand tools, equipment, machinery, and safe shop work practices.

Preferred Qualifications

•     ASE certifications (T-series Medium/Heavy Truck, School Bus, or Automotive).

•     OEM training (Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Allison, etc.).

•     Heavy equipment, fabrication, or welding experience.

•     Service technician or customer-facing experience.

•     CDL (Class A or Class B).

Physical Requirements

•     Ability to access any component on a vehicle in any position.

•     Ability to use body, tools, or work aids to move, guide, or position objects to accomplish repair tasks.

•     Exert 20–50 lbs of force occasionally, 10–25 lbs of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

•     Exercise considerable judgment in the selection and adjustment of appropriate tools, objects, and materials.
