What you’ll do
- Comprehensive repairs and diagnostics
- Troubleshoot and repair systems: steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking, drivetrains, suspensions, clutches, transmissions, and oil/temperature/gas regulating components.
- Adjust, test, and rebuild engines per your qualifications in compliance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local regulations.
- Conduct test drives during Preventive Maintenance to validate driver feedback and post-repair to confirm issues are fully resolved.
- Install, program, replace, and verify telematics hardware.
- Maintenance operations excellence
- Execute scheduled Preventive Maintenance for all vehicles assigned to the facility.
- Tackle unscheduled repairs promptly and thoroughly.
- Perform road calls and make on-the-road repairs as assigned.
- Record labor time, parts consumption, and maintenance actions on a work tablet and/or authorized forms.
- Safety and compliance leadership
- Uphold a safe, clean, productive work area aligned to company housekeeping standards and all applicable Federal, State/Provincial, and local requirements.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with DOT compliance requirements.
- Work your assigned shift; provide overtime coverage as needed.
What you bring
- 5+ years of fleet experience with Diesel, Heavy/Medium-duty vehicles.
- Minimum five years of Auto/Truck or Bus mechanical repair experience.
- Working knowledge of local DOT compliance for Medium/Heavy Trucks.
- Proficiency with computer-based fleet systems and documentation.
- Possession of the recommended minimum hand tools for Medium/Heavy-Duty and Diesel technicians.
- Significant experience with computerized diagnostics.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
- Experience planning and scheduling repairs (Daily, Weekly, Monthly).
- Flexibility to work variable schedules.
Preferred
- Active CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- ASE certifications in brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, A/C—or Master School Bus and/or Master Truck Technician.
