Step Into the Heart of Zm Fleet Care

Picture your day: you kick off with a quick review of driver notes, hook up diagnostic tools, and track down root causes across complex diesel systems. By midday you’ve completed a preventive maintenance inspection and a road test to validate a fix. Later, you program a telematics device, document parts and labor on your tablet, and head out for an on-the-road repair—always with safety and compliance front of mind.

What You’ll Do

Vehicle Diagnostics & Repair

  • Pinpoint faults and repair systems including steering and steering systems, electrical, cooling, lubrication, braking, drivetrains, suspensions, clutches, transmissions, and oil/temperature/gas regulating components.
  • Adjust, test, and rebuild engines and perform related tasks aligned with Federal, State/Provincial, and local requirements.
  • Conduct test drives during preventive maintenance to investigate driver-reported concerns, and perform post-service test drives to confirm repairs.
  • Install, program, replace, and verify telematics units.

Maintenance Operations

  • Execute preventive maintenance programs for all vehicles assigned to the facility.
  • Tackle unscheduled repairs as they arise to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to road calls and complete on-the-road fixes as dispatched.
  • Record time, parts, and completed work accurately on the work tablet and/or authorized forms.

Safety & Compliance

  • Keep a safe, orderly, and efficient bay that meets Federal, State/Provincial, and local rules, plus company housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Perform all work within role scope and in full alignment with DOT compliance requirements.
  • Work the assigned shift and support overtime as business needs arise.

How You’ll Excel

You thrive in a fast-moving shop, pairing speed with precision. You enjoy tracing symptoms to root causes across mechanical and electrical systems—whether that’s rebuilding an engine, diagnosing intricate wiring issues, or executing a meticulous PM. Your workspace is organized, your tools are cared for, and your documentation is complete. Above all, you take ownership and aim for first-time fixes.

Qualifications

Basic

  • 5 years of fleet experience with diesel, heavy/medium-duty equipment.
  • At least five years of Auto/Truck or Bus mechanical repair experience.
  • Hands-on familiarity with local, applicable DOT compliance for medium/heavy trucks.
  • Computer proficiency for fleet management systems and documentation.
  • Ownership of recommended minimum hand tools for Medium/Heavy-Duty Diesel work.
  • Strong background using computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Experience planning and scheduling maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules.

Preferred

  • Valid CDL (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • ASE certifications in brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, A/C; or Master School Bus and/or Master Truck Technician.
