We are currently hiring for the position of Field Generator Technician. As a Field Generator Technician, you’ll perform planned maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel and gas engine-driven standby power systems. You will also support commissioning activities, Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) testing, and switchgear inspections.
Your key responsibilities as a Generator Technician will include:
Planned Maintenance: Perform scheduled generator services, including oil, fuel, and coolant system services, filter replacements, and performance checks.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair engine, alternator, ATS, and switchgear issues with minimal supervision.
Repairs: Replace and adjust electrical and mechanical components such as regulators, sensors, contactors, and wiring harnesses.
Testing: Conduct load bank tests, ATS simulations, and operational performance checks.
Commissioning Support: Assist with startup, programming, and customer demonstrations of new systems.
Mentorship: Provide guidance to Level 1 Technicians, ensuring proper procedures and safety standards.
Customer Service: Clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to clients in a professional manner.
Documentation: Complete detailed service reports, work orders, and compliance logs.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards at all times
Requirements
Minimum 3–4 years of experience in generator or mechanical/electrical field service.
Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engine-driven generators, ATS, and switchgear.
Proficient in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Capable of independent troubleshooting and repair with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet DOT requirements.
Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs. and work in outdoor/inclement conditions.
