The ideal candidate has experience working on Ford diesel trucks, hydraulic systems, brake systems, trailers, and fleet maintenance programs.This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, completing repairs efficiently, and ensuring fleet vehicles remain safe, reliable, and ready to support telecommunications construction projects throughout California.Primary ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair Ford diesel engines and commercial fleet vehiclesPerform preventative maintenance on commercial trucks, trailers, and construction equipmentTroubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, brake, and lighting systemsPerform engine diagnostics using computerized diagnostic equipmentRepair and maintain suspension, steering, cooling, fuel, and drivetrain systemsInspect vehicles to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concernsComplete work orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining repair documentationCoordinate movement of trucks, trailers, and equipment for repairs or inspectionsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environmentAssist with fleet inspections and equipment readiness for field operationsFollow manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and shop safety practicesSupport emergency equipment repairs when operational needs require immediate responseRequired QualificationsMinimum 1-3 years of diesel mechanic or commercial truck repair experienceExperience diagnosing and repairing Ford commercial diesel trucksStrong knowledge of diesel engines, preventative maintenance, and fleet repairExperience repairing hydraulic, brake, lighting, suspension, and electrical systemsAbility to diagnose mechanical issues using electronic diagnostic equipmentAbility to work independently while managing multiple repair prioritiesBasic knowledge of BIT inspections and DOT regulationsStrong troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skillsValid Driver's License with an acceptable driving recordPreferred QualificationsClass A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)Experience maintaining telecommunications construction equipmentASE Diesel Certification or equivalent mechanical certificationsExperience with fleet maintenance management systemsKnowledge of trailers, heavy equipment, generators, compressors, and utility equipmentWelding and fabrication experienceHydraulic repair experienceHigh School Diploma or GEDBilingual English and SpanishPhysical RequirementsThis position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, working underneath vehicles, lifting heavy components, and operating shop equipment throughout the workday.
