The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment and fleet vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role supports a wide range of mechanical systems, including engines, electrical systems, drivetrains, braking systems, and hydraulics, andplays a critical role in maintaining equipment readiness across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and major repairs on heavy equipment, including loaders, dump trucks, sweepers, and similar equipment, across key systems:
Engine
Electrical
Drivetrain
Suspension
Braking systems
Hydraulics
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety
Provide maintenance support during snow events, including emergency and on-demand repairs
Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
Requirements
3–5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with heavy equipment experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools and perform independent repairs
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
Valid driver's license required
Ability to pass airport badge/security screening process
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting
Skills and Qualifications
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including experience with diesel diagnostic software
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work effectively in non-climate-controlled environments
Positive attitude with strong work ethic and adaptability in dynamic conditions
