Diesel Mechanic

Location: Milwaukie, OR
Pay: $30 $40/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday Friday or Tuesday Saturday (hours negotiable)

Overview

A well-established waste and recycling company in the Milwaukie area is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support a fleet of garbage trucks and heavy equipment. This is a stable, long-term opportunity with competitive pay, full benefits, and flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and driveline components
• Perform maintenance and repairs on garbage trucks and refuse equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems (packers, cylinders, etc.)
• Complete preventative maintenance inspections (PMs)
• Repair brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
• Maintain accurate work orders and documentation
• Follow safety procedures and shop standards

Qualifications

• 2+ years of diesel mechanic experience (heavy trucks or equipment preferred)
• Experience with refuse equipment is a plus
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload
• Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus, not required)
• Own basic tools (specialty tools may be provided)
