We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work efficiently in a shop or field-service environment.
Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, construction equipment, generators, or fleet vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel-system problems using diagnostic equipment and service manuals.
Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, driveline, exhaust, cooling, and emissions-control components.
Conduct DOT and safety inspections as required.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Communicate repair findings, recommend work, and estimate timelines to foreman and upper management.
Follow all company safety policies, environmental procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
Respond to roadside or field-service calls when assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred.
Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy-equipment mechanic, fleet technician, or automotive technician.
Working knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions systems.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, repair manuals, and technical specifications.
Ability to safely operate shop equipment, hand tools, power tools, jacks, lifts, and diagnostic devices.
Valid driver's license required; CDL is preferred.
ASE certifications, particularly Medium/Heavy Truck certifications, are preferred but not required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding conditions, including standing, bending, kneeling, and working around noise, grease, and changing weather conditions.
Preferred Skills
Experience with International, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Mack, John Deere, Case, Caterpillar, Ditch Witch or similar platforms.
Welding, fabrication, or trailer-repair experience.
Strong troubleshooting, time-management, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management and crew leaders.
