Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Promote safety in every task and action.
- Prepare repair orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Work independently and safely within the shop and when making road calls.
- Complete necessary records promptly, ensuring compliance with company rules and regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with and adhere to all DOT regulations, as well as federal, state, local, and company standards regarding:
- Personal safety during maintenance operations on tractors and trailers
- Maintaining a clean and safe shop environment
- Proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
- Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Supervisor as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or CSC Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Willingness to obtain ASE Brake certification within the first 180 days of employment.
- Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented work ethic.
- Must meet qualifications outlined in Section 396.19 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for vehicle inspections.
- Must meet qualifications in Section 396.25 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for brake maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to safely operate a tractor/trailer unit within the terminal.
- Technical expertise to handle components such as air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheels, springs, and other heavy parts (over 100 lbs).
- Ability to inspect, repair, or replace domes, valves, vents, or other equipment in compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and adherence to schedules.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, and federal, state, local, and company standards.
- Familiarity with basic company employment policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods on concrete floors.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, and using finger dexterity.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Must be capable of performing repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual tasks.
Working Conditions:
- Typical shop environment with concrete floors.
- Work may involve uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $27.00 per hour
