As a Dietary Technician, you will provide patients of all age groups with high quality Medical Nutrition Therapy following the Nutrition Care Process in consultation with and under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian.
· Perform timely nutrition screenings and basic assessments in consultation with or under the supervision of the dietitian in accordance with the assessment/reassessment policy.
· Identify patients at nutritional risk based on pre-established criteria and refer high risk patients to the dietitian.
· Develop and implement an individualized nutritional care plan.
· Obtain, calculate, and document calorie count results.
· Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family and/or caregivers.
· Adhere to nutrition care guidelines, the nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines to provide evidence-based nutrition care.
· Participate in appropriate department and facility wide committees and community events.
· Participate in performance improvement.
· Mentors and precepts dietetic interns and new employees
· Serves as a clinical resource for reliable nutrition information to all interdisciplinary team members, interns and the community. Performs all duties as assigned.
You are:
Qualifications:
· Working towards or has a Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics or nutrition/ Associate degree from ACEND-accredited Dietetic Technician Program and NDTR credential · One to two years of hospital clinical dietetic experience preferred. |
· Food Handler Certifications within 30 days of employment · If registered dietetic technician must have NDTR credential |
· Completes individualized training through the orientation process and ongoing competency assessment. · Maintains confidentiality, patient related, and complies with HIPAA standards · Strong communication skills both verbal and written; ability to compose comprehensive medical record documentation using critical thinking skills · Reasoning, decision-making and organizational skills · Intermediate computer skills, knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, Computrition and Meditech · Ability to work in a fast paced environment with excellent attention to details · Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with a diverse healthcare team |
