Position: Dietary Cook

As a Dietary Cook, you'll play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with physician-ordered diets and established food safety standards. You'll help create a positive dining experience while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen.


Qualifications

  • Patience, compassion, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward serving the elderly and individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Previous cooking experience is preferred; healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements
  • Ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and served according to quality and food safety standards
  • Review production sheets and resident diet orders to ensure accuracy
  • Properly store, label, and rotate food items using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas
  • Monitor food temperatures and follow all state, federal, and facility food safety regulations
  • Assist with meal service as needed and work collaboratively with the dietary team
  • Follow all infection prevention, sanitation, Universal Precautions, and workplace safety procedures
