Description
Brunswick Pointe Transitional Care is looking for a dependable, hardworking Cook to join our Dietary Team! If you enjoy preparing quality meals and making a difference in the lives of others, we’d love to meet you.
As a Cook, you’ll play an important role in providing nutritious, appetizing meals to our residents while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service.
Responsibilities
As a Cook, you will:
Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diets.
Ensure meals are attractive, properly portioned, and served at the correct temperatures.
Follow all federal, state, and facility food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times.
Properly operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment.
Minimize food waste through proper preparation and storage techniques.
Meet scheduled meal service times for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
Work closely with the Dietary Manager and dietary team to ensure excellent resident satisfaction.
Follow infection prevention and infection control procedures.
Comply with all Resident Rights and confidentiality requirements.
Assist with inventory, food storage, stocking, and rotation of supplies using FIFO practices.
Participate in in-service training and continuing education.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
Previous cooking experience in healthcare, long-term care, assisted living, restaurant, or institutional food service.
Culinary training or certification is a plus but not required.
Knowledge of therapeutic and modified diets is preferred.
Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Must successfully complete all required background checks.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
Frequently bend, reach, twist, and move throughout the kitchen.
Lift and carry up to50 pounds.
Push and pull carts and kitchen equipment.
Work in hot and cold environments.
Maintain a fast-paced work environment while meeting meal deadlines.
